What is it?
Handbill is a free, open source app for social sharing which runs over hidden email, instead of the web.
There is no company. There are no ads. There is NO ALGORITHM.
There are two ways to use it.
When used between friends who have the app installed, it works like a familiar social networking app, except you see only the content posted by your friends and nothing else.
When used by itself, it can send your posts to friends and family using their regular email addresses. Not just notifications… it sends the actual content. They can comment on posts and click to filter different types of content. All from their regular email client which they already use. So, you can start using the app right away without convincing anyone else to download it first.
There is no Handbill server and no Handbill accounts. Everything is stored in an email account through an existing provider such as Google or Apple. When used between friends who have the app, all communications are cryptographically signed and sealed, creating a virtual social space on top of existing infrastructure.
